The two different functions of the building have been accommodated in two separate wings at right angles to each other. The single story block of the conference hall is topped, bridge-like, by the multi-story apartment wing facing Lake Balaton.
Several touristic developments were realized in the lakeside area of Balatonfüred in the past few years. The city beach, the city camping ground and its environment, the Kékszalag Walkway and the Anna Walkway have been refurbished, a new hotel with 80 rooms has been built and a sailing boat stop next to the small boat port. The conference hall and apartment building is located in the city beach area, at the end of the Kékszalag Walkway, pedestrian access is via the walkway. The conference and accommodation functions have separate entrances, both open from the paved square on the eastern side. Parking area for the building has been established by enlarging the hotel’s parking area. The existing sewage lift station has been hidden behind a 3 m high wall, integrated into the service yard of the building. Delivery and service vehicles approach the building from the west.
The building is three story high, with flat roof and in-situ reinforced concrete structure constructed with pillars or as box-like units. Its two functions are located in two separate wings. The single story block accommodates the conference function. The ground floor conference hall faces Lake Balaton with large openings. The entrance leads into a lobby with access to the cloak room and the toilets. The two service offices open from a separate corridor, as well as the mechanical room. The conference hall has an attached catering kitchen, access from the outside is provided through the western side of the building. The service yard of the building is also located there, accommodating the sewage lift station and HVAC installations. The guest apartments are on the first and second floors, opening from external corridors. Access from the central square is provided by an enclosed and accessible staircase-lift unit.
The building materials of the facade are characterized by functionality and simplicity. The strip of the openings around the conference wing is clad with fibre cement panels, like the cladding of the neighbouring hotel. The accommodation wing has white rendering, so the two wings differ in the use of materials as well. The balconies in front of the rooms are built of light colour fair face concrete, shaded in places with some openwork fine concrete screens. The flat roof of the multi-story wing is covered with gravel, the conference wing has extensive green roof.
