Owing to the elegant, understated, multifunctional Congress Center designed by Tima Zoltán, Balatonfüred has been put on the map of domestic conference tourism. The town has been enriched by a 1200 person capacity, 4500 m2 area venue, which can even host the traditional Anna Ball – writes turizmusonline.hu.
In 2018, the town management decided to have a cultural center built at the limit of the resort area, which would help to extend the tourist season in town. The building has been designed by KÖZTI.
As the list of accommodations at Balatonfüred had grown spectacularly in the recent period and more and more restaurants had tried to extend their opening period beyond the usual summer tourist season, the town management looked for a solution which would fill the dead season of autumn to spring with life. The answer that emerged was the establishment of a multifunctional cultural center.
The building is planned to be completed with a two story high hotel built on the other side of the square, so the Congress Center will have its own accommodation.
The entrance hall can accommodate mobile exhibitions, receptions and other events. The auditorium is accessed through two symmetrical corridors, which open from the entrance hall. There is a cafeteria on the eastern side of the building with an open terrace towards the pedestrianized Huray Street. It serves the passers-bye in the daytime.
The structural design of the auditorium makes it possible to change the presently fixed stepped rows of seats to mobile ones, so the auditorium space will be able to accommodate even balls, such as the Anna Ball.
