The topping out ceremony of several office buildings on BudaPart, traditionally marking the completion of the building’s highest structure, took place in June 2025. The BOL office building has been designed by a KÖZTI team, led by Peschka Alfréd and Borbély András architects.
KÖZTI won the design commission in an invited competition just two years ago. Both design and construction proceeded at an exceptionally fast pace. Office buildings are basically rational, logical building types, and the structural system and construction technology chosen in this case supported this rationality even more. The building was built with prefabricated load-bearing facade panels; the facade was completed at the same time as the building structure, and the installation of the windows and doors proceeded simultaneously with the construction. Thanks to this, the BOL office building showed almost its complete final form even when the highest point of the structure was reached.
The building has three basement levels, a ground floor with high clearance and six office floors. Its exterior design can be traced back to the division of the block, suggested by shape of the plot, into four parts, which were reconnected. The perimeter block, divided by recesses, provides natural light for the office spaces on the largest possible surface of the facade, and the building encloses a raised courtyard, an intensively planted green roof. The entrance to the building is marked by an arcade (“esplanade”) set back from the plane of the facade.
The careful choice of materials not only shortened construction time, but also reduced the building’s carbon footprint. This was primarily due to the use of prefabricated structural elements and building materials made of recycled materials. In the facade design, this included prefabricated reinforced concrete sandwich panels and window profiles made of recycled aluminum.
Construction goes on with interior architecture and technical installations, simultaneously with the completion of the facade, after which the building will get its final look.
